The Bridgewater College Symphonic Band will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, in Cole Hall on the College’s campus. The Symphonic Band is under the direction of Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music at Bridgewater College.

The concert will open with “Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo” by Malcom Arnold, followed by “Italian Rhapsody” by Julie Giroux and “Bamboo Warrior” by Christina Huss. “Bamboo Warrior” will be directed by student conductor Owen Angell ’25, a music major focusing on music education.

Returning to Carrillo’s direction, the band will then play “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss.

The concert will conclude with “Steampunk Suite” by Erika Svanoe, featuring four movements: “Charlie and the Mechanical Man Marching Band,” “The Strange Case of Dr. Curie and Madam Hyde,” “Bertie Wells attends Mr. Verne’s lecture on flying machines” and “Barnum & Tesla’s Tandem Bicycle.” The suite, which premiered in 2017, was performed that same year by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band at the U.S. Capitol Building.

The performance is free and open to the public.
